— Visitor (March 2026)"As a body conscious plus size person who grew up in a home that was definitely a 'clothing on' environment, I was hesitant to experience a Naturist or clothing optional space.
This feels like a community that has something in common but it isn't the focus of the community. It's like everyone has forgotten they are naked. It feels welcoming, and has well established rules that make it safe and relaxing.
I live in an apartment that being naked at home would require closing all the curtains. I have been craving a backyard. This space has resolved that craving and so much more. It's an extraordinary outdoor space.
I now come regularly and by the second visit I couldn't get my clothes off fast enough to feel a unique freedom I manage to get here. I would say coming here has been life changing. How I feel about my body has shifted and that has flowed into my overall happiness and wellbeing."
"Hi Jill, I 1st came on your open day last year and found everyone friendly and welcoming and showed me around. I thought your club grounds were very nice and I enjoyed the day and stayed overnight. I came a few more times then join up. Now have been back now for a couple of weekends now and read you programs and just realized you also have a golf course that I haven't found yet lol. — Visitor (March 2026)"Our first experience with a naturist club was visiting the open day in early November. We initially came just to have a bit of a look around, but the enthusiasm of Jill who took us on the tour must have been infectious or something as we joined in with the club uniform shortly afterwards. The sheer amount of people and the unfamiliar situation was a little overwhelming, but not so terrifying that we didn't book another proper visit for a few weeks later.
That second visit on a beautiful weekend was when it really hit us. We booked an amazing little cabin for the night and were expecting to just spend it quietly doing our own thing. We were soon having a drink on the deck in the sun with thirty or so people, then enjoying a communal BBQ (which we luckily happened to have brought BBQ food for), finally having an enthusiastic fireside drumming. That next morning, we were sitting on a blanket in the sun, and it just hit us that we had that feeling you get when you are totally relaxed and have been on holiday for a week or so. After initially planning to leave around lunch time we eventually dragged ourselves back to reality later that evening.
Needless to say, it wasn't long before we returned.
The open friendliness and hospitality of all the members and guests there is a huge factor in why we love the place. The custodians Jack & Jill being on site in summer is a huge asset to the club providing a knowledgeable and friendly team assisting old and new players alike. We have always felt welcome to join in events or activities, even if our efforts may have cost Jack the defence of the golf title."
— Mickey (March 2026)"My first contact with the Wellington Naturist Club was through their website, although it came recommended to me by other naturists. Living in the Bay of Islands, there isn't a local club nearby, although we are lucky to have a beautiful naturist beach at Russell.
From the outset, my experience was excellent. My email communication with Jill was fantastic - friendly, prompt, and very helpful. Booking a cabin was straightforward, and on arrival I found it to be first-class: tidy, clean, and well-equipped, especially appreciated as I was travelling by motorcycle.
I was warmly welcomed and given a tour of the facilities, which are outstanding. The club offers a heated swimming pool, two spas, a sauna, pickleball courts, and BBQ facilities, all set within beautiful, private bush surroundings.
I've yet to explore the bush-clad hills, which I'm told feature lovely walking tracks meandering through the area - something I'm looking forward to on a future visit. Located in Upper Hutt, the club seems to enjoy its own little microclimate, often sitting 3-4 degrees warmer than Wellington.
The daily happy hour is a highlight, particularly for a solo traveller. It creates a relaxed and social atmosphere, making it easy to meet other naturists. On both of my stays, I've met a great mix of people - locals, visitors from the South Island, and international guests. It truly felt like a place where I belonged, surrounded by like-minded people.
Overall, my experience with the Wellington Naturist Club has been first-rate. I thoroughly enjoyed my stays and look forward to visiting again soon."
— Visitor (March 2026)"I stumbled across naturism last summer after reading an article about the lifestyle on Stuff. Naturally, I googled it to learn more, and the Wellington Naturist Club came up. I explored the website and thought it was something I genuinely wanted to try. As luck would have it, there was an open day in November, so I decided to go along.
Walking up to the main gate, I was incredibly nervous - especially going on my own. But everyone was so welcoming and friendly that I quickly felt at ease. Although it was a bit of a culture shock at first, I settled in, joined the tour, and ended up enjoying the facilities for most of the day. I eventually became a member in February.
I only wish I had discovered the Wellington Naturist Club earlier in life when I had more free time, but I make an effort to visit whenever I can now."

"What a fantastic place. The eye for detail, the cleanliness, the care & love, that gives an instant 100% welcome on arrival. My 4 days here were exactly what I needed, Oh and then it's a nudist place too, sigh, such a relief not have to worry, to be able to swim naked in the wonderful pool. I am very aware of how much work goes into a place like this with people coming and going. My life is quite nomadic, and places like this gives me a sense of home.
